WELCOME TO RESEARCH BRAZIL IRELAND
Research Brazil Ireland (RBI) brings together Irish third-level institutions and research centres as a consortium to drive a coordinated national approach to promote Ireland’s scientific and technological reputation in Brazil and to highlight Ireland’s attractiveness as an international research partner.
The programme develops research and educational links between the two countries across five thematic areas
Information and Communication Technologies
Environmental Science and Technologies
Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology
Biopharmaceuticals, Biotechnology and Health
Sustainable Energy and Agroproduction
This strategic cooperation is being financed by the state research funding agency Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) which has designated Brazil as a priority country for research and education partnerships.
The objectives of RBI – Bridge to Progress are to
- Encourage the exchange of researchers between the two countries
- Facilitate work on joint Brazil-Ireland research proposals
- Develop new links with industry in both countries
- Ensure Irish and Brazilian research collaborations are strategically positioned to take advantage of European Union (EU) Horizon 2020 funding
Whilst a number of long-term, very successful research partnerships between the two countries are already in place, it is hoped that the new RBI office recently opened in Brazil will assist in identifying potential industrial and research collaborations, facilitate communication and generally help overcome the barriers which have traditionally impeded a more comprehensive engagement between the two countries. Showcasing events and workshops will be organized in both countries to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas and the development of joint proposals relevant to priority areas of both countries.
